Niue joined fellow Pacific nations at the 6th Korea-Pacific Islands Foreign Ministers Meeting, held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 8–10 December 2025.

This high-level dialogue underscores Niue’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and advancing shared priorities with the Republic of Korea and Pacific Island countries.

The meeting provided a platform for constructive engagement on key issues, including climate resilience, sustainable development, maritime security, and economic cooperation. Niue’s participation reflects its dedication to fostering regional solidarity and leveraging strategic partnerships to address pressing challenges faced by Pacific communities.

Foreign Ministers explored opportunities to deepen collaboration under the Korea-Pacific Islands Cooperation Framework, focusing on areas such as renewable energy, fisheries management, digital connectivity, and capacity building. These discussions aim to deliver tangible benefits for Pacific peoples and contribute to global efforts in achieving sustainable development goals.

Niue’s Priorities at the Meeting:
• Climate Action and Resilience: Advocating for increased support for adaptation and mitigation initiatives to safeguard Pacific communities from climate impacts.
• Digital Connectivity: Strengthening ICT infrastructure to improve access to technology and enhance economic opportunities.
• Sustainable Fisheries and Ocean Governance: Promoting responsible management of marine resources to ensure food security and economic sustainability.
• Capacity Building and Education: Expanding training and knowledge-sharing programs to empower Niuean’s and build local expertise.
• Advocacy for SIS Support: Calling for targeted assistance to Small Island States (SIS) to address unique vulnerabilities and ensure inclusive development across the Pacific region.

Areas of focus include renewable energy development, digital transformation, and climate adaptation initiatives. These partnerships will help Niue achieve its national development goals while contributing to a stronger, more resilient Pacific region.
