The Government of Niue officially convened the Niue Cyber Roadshow on Monday, 8 December 2025, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen cyber resilience and digital security nationwide.

The Roadshow is a nationwide programme delivering practical training to help communities, government, private organizations, and individuals improve cyber awareness and respond effectively to threats. During a scoping visit in July 2025, the team found low levels of cyber awareness which has shaped the focus of the current programme.

This week, the Roadshow is engaging government, private sector, religious leaders and community representatives through interactive sessions on cyber security training, online safety, digital resilience, and best practices for managing cyber risks.

Delivered in partnership with the New Zealand National Cyber Security Centre, the initiative is supported by New Zealand agencies, including Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Protective Security Requirements, and the New Zealand Police in partnership with Office of the Secretary to Government, Niue Centre of Excellence in IT (CEIT), Secretariat Office, Niue Police, and Telecom Niue. This collaboration highlights the importance of coordinated local and regional efforts to address cyber threats.

The Roadshow is a key action under the Niue National Security Strategy 2025–2029, which identifies cyber security as an emerging threat beyond physical borders. It forms part of Niue’s Cyber Security Roadmap, which concludes on Thursday, 11 December 2025. At a regional level, this initiative supports Niue’s contribution to the delivering actions under the PaCSON Action Plan 2025-2028.

In her opening remarks, the Deputy Secretary of Government emphasized that government officials have a responsibility to ensure policies, systems, and people are prepared, noting that the initiative aligns with the Boe Declaration on Regional Security and aims to embed cyber security into Niue’s governance culture.

The Government of Niue acknowledges the support of New Zealand and remains committed to strengthening national resilience in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
