The World Health Organization (WHO) Representative and Head of Mission to Samoa, American Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, and Tokelau, Dr Wendy Snowdon, presented her Letters of Credentials to the Prime Minister of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, and Cabinet Ministers this morning.

Dr Snowdon has been serving as the WHO Representative based in Apia, Samoa since 25 July 2025. She is a public health specialist with extensive experience across the Pacific in health promotion and chronic disease prevention. Her distinguished career includes four years in Kiribati as WHO Country Liaison Officer and five years in Fiji as WHO Team Coordinator for Pacific NCDs and Health, supporting 21 Pacific Island countries.

During the presentation, Dr Snowdon expressed her appreciation to the Government of Niue for accepting her nomination and for the opportunity to make her first official visit to Niue. On behalf of the WHO, she reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continue supporting Niue’s health programmes and efforts toward achieving better health outcomes for all Niueans.

Dr Snowdon will work closely with the Government of Niue to strengthen health systems, implement public health initiatives, and enhance preparedness and response to health emergencies.

Prime Minister Tagelagi welcomed Dr Snowdon’s appointment, noting the strong partnership between Niue and the World Health Organization. He acknowledged that Dr Snowdon’s representation aligns with Niue’s national health priorities and reflects the shared commitment to improving the wellbeing of the people of Niue.
