The Department of Justice, Lands & Survey officially launched the Niue Land Registry Handbook on Monday 13 July 2026, providing a practical new resource to support registry staff and improve access to information on land registry processes for the people of Niue.
The handbook has been developed as a practical, user-friendly guide to support the consistent acceptance and processing of Land Court applications. It is divided into two sections: Common Applications, which includes legislative references, guidelines, forms and fees, and Registry Procedures, which provides detailed guidance on registry processes.
The handbook will serve as an important training resource for registry staff while also acting as a valuable reference for court users seeking information about land registry processes. By documenting established procedures, it will help ensure greater consistency, efficiency and quality in the delivery of registry services.
Minister for Justice, Lands & Survey, Hon. Rhonda Tiakia, welcomed the launch of the handbook and highlighted the collaborative effort behind its development.
"I'd like to acknowledge everyone who contributed to this handbook, our Registry staff, the Judiciary, the Pacific Justice Sector Programme, and the Government of New Zealand through MFAT. Your collaboration has produced a practical resource that will benefit both staff and the public for years to come. As Minister for Justice, Lands & Survey, I'm proud to support initiatives like this that strengthen our institutions and improve the services we provide to our people."
