The Minister of Finance, Honourable Crossley Tatui has officially signed off on the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Government of Niue for the financial year ending 30 June 2024.

With all outstanding audits completed, Niue’s Audit Reports are now up to date, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to transparency, compliance, and good financial stewardship.

The Minister for Finance, Honourable Crossley Tatui extended his appreciation to the Office of the Auditor General for its continued support in addressing reporting backlogs.

“I wish to acknowledge and express my appreciation to the Auditor General, Mr John Ryan and his team for their ongoing support,” said Minister Tatui. “Having our audit reports up to date for the first time in a long time demonstrates our government’s commitment and it provides a strong platform for further strengthening the review and reform of public finance in Niue.”

“Bringing the financial statements up to date and completing the audit of them is a significant achievement for the public sector and improves the transparency of government finances for the people of Niue” says Mr Ryan.

The Minister commended the finance staff for their commitment to finalising the financial statements and working through legacy issues that had contributed to delays in the past.

“I want to thank the Ministry of Finance, under the leadership of the Financial Secretary Mrs. Doreen Siataga, the Office of the Secretary to Government and everyone involved for their dedication and resilience in getting us here. Their tireless work has been critical in ensuring our financial reporting is current and accurate.”

The Government of Niue recognises that timely and reliable financial reporting is essential for effective decision-making, donor confidence, and public trust. Having up-to-date financial statements also strengthens the government’s ability to engage with development partners and financial institutions, and better align future budgets with national priorities.

As the country continues to improve its public finance systems, the Government will be building on this momentum and continuous capacity building across financial departments.

This achievement is a testament to what can be accomplished through collaboration, leadership, and a shared commitment to good governance.
