The Government of Niue has today released its 2023–2026 Progress Report, outlining key achievements, challenges, and milestones delivered over the term of the 18th Government.

The report reflects a period of unprecedented global disruption and recovery, including the COVID 19 pandemic, international economic pressures, fuel price shocks, and supply chain disruptions while highlighting the Government’s continued focus on stability, resilience, and long-term nation building.

The Progress Report details achievements across governance reforms, infrastructure delivery, health and social services, economic recovery, energy security, and the expansion of Niue’s international and diplomatic relationships.
Prime Minister Hon Dalton Tagelagi said the report is intended to provide transparency and accountability to the people of Niue as the country approaches the next general election. It presents a consolidated record of programmes delivered, ongoing initiatives, and areas of continuing work.

“This report reflects a period of resilience and responsibility,” said the Prime Minister.
Our people faced extraordinary challenges - from a global pandemic to rising international fuel and freight costs - but Niue stood together. It reflects both the challenges faced and the actions taken by Government, with the support of public servants, communities, and development partners. Together we have laid important foundations for the future.”

Key highlights during the 2023–2026 term include:

▪️Major progress on national infrastructure, including airport and energy projects
▪️Expansion of Niue’s diplomatic relations and international presence
▪️Recovery and growth in tourism and economic activity
▪️Continued leadership on climate action and ocean protection
▪️Responsible financial management and protection of fiscal stability

The report also acknowledges ongoing challenges, including global economic volatility, infrastructure pressures, and capacity constraints, while outlining how these have been managed through prudent policy choices and international partnerships.
