2023 - 2026 Progress Report (PDF) [Click to download]MESSAGE FROM OUR LEADER
As we approach the next general election and consider the opportunities ahead, we reflect on our term as the 17th & 18th Government (2020–2026) and the work undertaken.
This period brought significant—and at times unprecedented—challenges. Throughout, we have been proud of how the people of Niue stood together: supporting Government decisions, strengthening our resilience, and contributing to recovery. Our careful approach to the global pandemic prioritized safety, managed risk, and ensured Niue was prepared when COVID 19 reached our shores.
Governing during this time required difficult decisions. We managed borders, responded to economic pressures, and met increased demands on health and social services. Record global fuel prices and reduced revenues placed additional strain on Government resources.
Nonetheless, as Niue has always done, we persevered. We adapted to changing circumstances and continued to move forward together. We sincerely thank our people for the patience, strength, and resolve shown throughout this period.
We also acknowledge our Ministers for their leadership and commitment across their portfolios. We extend our appreciation to Members of the Assembly, public servants, private sector partners, and community members who contributed in whatever capacity was required.
While there is more work to do, the progress achieved between 2023 and 2026 is clear. We have laid important foundations for the future, guided by unity, service, and responsibility.
We conclude with a sincere and humble Fakaaue Lahi Niue.
Prime Minister, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi
