The Prime Minister of Niue, Honourable Dalton Tagelagi, will lead an official delegation to the Cook Islands to participate in the 60th Anniversary of Constitution Day, a significant national event that marks the Cook Islands’ journey of self-governance in free association with New Zealand.

The Niue delegation officially departed today, Saturday 2 August 2025, on a charter flight ahead of the official celebrations scheduled for Monday 4 August 2025. Accompanying the Prime Minister is the Speaker of the Niue Assembly, some Members of the Niue Assembly, senior government officials, representatives from the private sector and the Niuean Cook Islands community.

This visit presents a valuable opportunity for Niue’s representatives to acknowledge and celebrate the close relationship between the two countries. It also recognises the strong presence of the Cook Islands community, whose longstanding contributions continue to strengthen the cultural and familial bonds shared between Niue and the Cook Islands.

The Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Honourable Mark Brown and his delegation visited Niue in October 2024 last year to attend the 50th Constitution Celebrations. This year the Prime Minister of Niue is pleased to return that gesture of friendship and solidarity by joining the Cook Islands anniversary events.

The Government of Niue extends its warm congratulations to the Government and people of the Cook Islands on this historic occasion.
