The Veterans Minister and Associate Defence Minister of New Zealand, Honourable Chris Penk is expected to arrive this afternoon, to attend the official ANZAC Day commemorations in Alofi this week, and to honour and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of Niuean personnel who served alongside New Zealand and the Pacific.

During his visit, Minister Penk will meet with the Prime Minister of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, and members of Cabinet. Minister Penk will also be attending several events leading up to Anzac Day, including the Avatele Village ANZAC dawn service.

“I recently met Minister Penk during my last visit to Wellington and I am honoured to welcome him to Niue during this time of remembrance” said Prime Minister Hon. Dalton Tagelagi. “Anzac Day holds deep meaning for our people, and the presence of the Minister reflects the enduring bond between Niue and New Zealand, forged through shared sacrifice and service.”

Minister Penk will be accompanied by NZDF Joint Forces Commander, Major General Rob Krushka, representatives of the New Zealand Defence Force and Government officials. He is scheduled to depart Niue to New Zealand on Friday 25th April 2025.
