The India High Commissioner to New Zealand and Niue, Her Excellency Neeta Bhushan arrived on the island on the 28th of June 2024, marking her first visit since presenting her Letters of Credentials to the Premier of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi last year in February 2023.

This morning, High Commissioner Bhushan met with Premier Tagelagi and Cabinet for a Courtesy Call. During the meeting, the Premier expressed his gratitude to the Government of India by stating

The Government of Niue is thankful for India's longstanding support and contributions to the development of Niue and the Pacific region as well as the successful implementation of the Center of Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) and support to community projects. He said he looked forward to continued support in solar installation for the Fale Fono II and Taoga Niue complex, as well as business developments and exchanges”

The High Commissioner acknowledged the upcoming 50th Constitution Celebration and reiterated India's commitment to supporting community projects in Niue. She also thanked the Premier for the warm hospitality for her quick visit, and support to the Indian community on island.

Following the Courtesy Call, the High Commissioner participated in several meetings with government stakeholders and visited the CEIT department at the University of the South Pacific (Niue Campus).
High Commissioner Bhushan will conclude her visit and depart Niue today.
