The Government of Niue has officially established diplomatic relations with the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The formalization took place today in the margins of the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum in the Kingdom of Tonga.

The Premier of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of the Marshall
Islands, Hon. Kalani Kaneko, signed a Joint Communique. This agreement initiates diplomatic and friendly relations between the two nations, grounded in a mutual commitment to promoting international peace and security.

“Marshall Islands and Niue have been friends for many years and today is the formalities. We look forward to working with the government to strengthen our relationship and expand partnership in many ways. This signifies the solidarity meeting of the Marshall Islands and Niue who are one of the two smallest countries in the Pacific” said Foreign Minister for the Republic of Marshall Islands, Honourable Kalani Kaneko.

“I want to acknowledge and thank the Republic of the Marshall Islands, as we continue to strengthen the growing support and collaboration between our two nations. Niue is committed to deepening our relationships with our fellow small island states, and part of our goal is to formally establish diplomatic relations with all the members of our Forum family.” said Premier of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi.

The Government of Niue looks forward to fostering strong and productive relations with the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
