The Australian Foreign Minister, Senator the Honourable Penny Wong, arrived in Niue this afternoon, marking her second visit to the island nation. Her first visit was in October 2022, when she joined the people of Niue in celebrating the 48th Constitution Day.

During her visit, the Minister is meeting with the Prime Minister of Niue, members of Cabinet, and senior government officials. Her programme also includes tours of key project sites, including the Broadcasting Corporation of Niue (BCN) building, where Australia has supported recent renovations.

The Minister is also taking part in an engagement with Women in Leadership, an event organised by the Australian High Commission that highlights Australia’s continued commitment to supporting gender equality and leadership opportunities across the Pacific.

The Prime Minister of Niue, Hon. Dalton Tagelagi, welcomed her visit, stating:
“We welcome the Ministers return to Niue and look forward to productive discussions that will continue to support our nation’s development priorities. Her visit further reinforces the warm relationship shared between Niue and Australia.”

The Minister is accompanied by Australian government officials traveling from Samoa. She is scheduled to depart Niue for Australia on Wednesday, 25 February 2026.
